A perennial topic of debate in our industry involves a direct comparison of tunneling methods. Which is faster, a tunnel boring machine or a drill and blast operation? Which one is more cost effective? In 2014 I worked with Stillwater Mine to find out and wrote a white paper for the Australian Tunnelling Conference.
